Mint Hill
Just 25 minutes southeast of Uptown Charlotte lies Mint Hill. It’s 25 square miles encompasses approximately 18,000 citizens but you might not realize that many people live there. The community has focused on restrictive zoning over the years, which has allowed many a green pasture to be retained, while also allowing condensed neighborhoods in certain areas.
The Mint Hill area was settled in 1750 but came to prominence during the Carolina Gold Rush. Shortly after gold was found at the nearby Reed Gold Mine, the Surface Hill Gold Mine in Mint Hill was discovered in 1844, and was well known for it’s production. It was so named for it’s veins so close to the surface that residents could pick the gold up from the ground after a hard rain.
No gold mines actively exist in the area currently, but this is a treasure of an area to look for those sprawling ranch type homes, and large plots to spread out on, just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Charlotte. Contact us at 704-684-1000 today to preview any of these listings today.
