Just due south of Charlotte at the corners Highway 16, Providence Road, and Highway 84, is the small town of Weddington. It is approximately 17 square miles and yet has only a population of 11,000 people.
It prides itself on restrictive zoning, developments with green space, and retaining it’s rural appeal.
It’s town center consists of a small shopping center with grocery store anchor, and the nearby town hall, located in a beautiful yellow Victorian structure that has been preserved. Weddington has appeal to homeowners looking for homes on larger lots as most of them are located on 1 acre or more per zoning. It also has appeal due to the town tax rate, which is 3 cents per $100 valuation, in addition to Union County taxes.
